Notre Dame lands nation's No. 1 women's basketball recruit

Notre Dame women's basketball, fresh off a National Championship win over Mississippi State, landed the nation's No. 1 high school recruit in William Monroe (Va.) high school five-star forward Samantha Brunelle.
The 6-3 prospect chose the Fighting Irish over offers from Connecticut, Duke, Maryland, North Carolina State, Wake Forest, Virginia, Kentucky and many others across the country.
Brunelle announced her commitment on Sunday in front of friends, family and many others at her high school.
This past season, the class of 2019 standout averaged 30 points and 15.6 rebounds per game as a junior.
Brunette, a USA National Team member, was also named Virginia state player of the year and the Gatorade Player of the Year.
